Bladen Area Rural Transportation System (BARTS) is a community transportation system that provides a variety of transportation needs for citizens of Bladen County. Not only is there human transportation, there is also public transportation. Some of the kinds of transportation include: general transportation for senior adults to nutrition sites, shopping and recreational outings; medical transportation for senior adults; weekly out of town medical trips including routes for Lumberton, Chapel Hill, Durham, Fayetteville, Wilmington and Whiteville; employment transportation; transportation to Bladen Community College; and local public trips. Hours of operation are 5:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. General public fare is 50 cents per 10-mile trip or $1.00 per 20-mile trip. For more information, please contact: Bladen County Rural Transportation System Brunswick Transit System, Inc. is a non-profit transportation system that coordinates human service agency and general public transportation services for the citizens of Brunswick County. The system operates a fleet of 15 vehicles, including 11 which are ADA equipped to assist persons with special needs. Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Columbus County Transportation provides public transportation, subscription and demand-response transportation services for residents of Columbus County. Hours of operation are 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. For more information, please contact: Charles Patton Fayetteville Area System of Transit (FAST) provides transportation services, authorized by the Department of Social Services, for citizens of Cumberland County with medical appointments. Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. For more information, please contact: Fayetteville Area System of Transit Information Center Also available to certain authorized residents of the city of Fayetteville and nearby areas of Cumberland County, is FAST (Fayetteville Area System of Transit), which operates dial-a-ride para-transit services. Riders must be eligible for the service. The hours of operation are from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Fare is $1.50 per one-way trip and reservations to ride must be made at least 24 hours prior to planned travel times. Hoke Area Transit Services provides subscription and dial-a-ride transportation for certain authorized residents of Hoke County. Hours of operation are 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
