RETAIL SALES TAX COLLECTIONS ($ MILLIONS)

Current-dollar retail sales tax collections in the 11-county North Carolina’s Southeast grew at an annual compound rate of 7.7 percent over 2002-2006. Pender County had the highest growth rate in the region with 17.3 percent. There was virtually no change in tax collections in Bladen County over the same period. For the year ending November 2007, region sales tax collections were down 3 percent from the previous 12-month total.
