HEALTH CARE
Along with general acute health care, North Carolina’s Southeast now offers major specialties in areas such as heart surgery and cancer treatment. The largest hospitals are located in Fayetteville, Lumberton, and Wilmington, with medical facilities licensed for 3,553 beds in the region and 432 beds for long-term care. Area hospitals have strong alliances throughout the state and continuously seek ways to improve health care in the southeast. Two such alliances are Coastal Carolinas Health Alliance and North Carolina Health Network.
