THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT PEMBROKE

The University of North Carolina at Pembroke (UNCP) is dedicated to providing its students with a personal approach to their education.  The University offers 45 programs at the bachelor’s level and 17 master’s degree programs, including the Master of Business Administration and Master of Public Administration.  The University is located in the North Carolina coastal plain about 10 miles west of the intersection of Interstate 95 and U.S. 74.  The campus is on 161 acres adjacent to the Town of Pembroke in Robeson County.  There are 46 campus buildings, including five traditional residence halls and five apartment buildings.

Founded in 1887 for the education of American Indians, the University now serves a student body reflective of the rich cultural diversity of American society.  Total enrollment fall 2008 included 17.8% American Indian, 27% African American, 1.8% Asian, 3.1% Hispanic and 44.5% White students. US News ranks UNCP one of the most diverse universities in the nation.

A low student/faculty ratio allows UNC Pembroke to provide an intellectually challenging academic environment created by a faculty dedicated to teaching and learning excellence, interaction with students, and scholarly activity.  The University Honors College attracts top students from across the state. Among the 313 full-time faculty members, 70% have the terminal degree in their field and 62% have earned the doctoral degree.

There are 45 undergraduate degree programs, as listed below, and an additional 54 minors that students can choose.
