Wireless—WI-FI—“Hotspots”
WI-FI or “Wireless Fidelity” offers the opportunity to connect to the Internet without being tied to a physical location. Just as cell phones liberated us to move around and talk as long as we had a signal, WI-FI allows us the same freedom of movement—as long as we have a signal. Signal areas are commonly called “hotspots”. Restaurants, hotels, airports, coffee houses and other establishments are setting up hotspots as a service to their clientele. Listings for “hotspots” are mostly dedicated to urban areas but “hotspots” in the NC Southeast Area include the following as reported to the NC Rural Internet Access Authority and listed on JiWire.com and Wififreespots.com but are not limited to these:
