Bio-Renewable Assets GIS Mapping Tool

North Carolina’s Southeast, in collaboration with the NC Biotechnology Center, has developed a GIS mapping tool to identify all of the bio-renewable assets within the region. The maps can be displayed in six different variations including USGS Topological mapping, street view mapping, and hybrid mapping. The region’s transportation network can be toggled on or off including rail to identify access to these resources. A few of the bio-renewable assets included in the database are:

  • Bio-renewable companies and suppliers
  • Power production facilities
  • Agricultural production facilities and volumes
  • Swine Lagoons
  • Spray fields
  • Food production facilities
  • Landfills
  • Wood production facilities and pulpwood volumes
