Distribution & Logistics
Southeastern North Carolina is now a hub for logistics-oriented companies that desire a location for supply chain efficiencies. The region’s location mid-way on the east coast provides excellent transportation access via the international Port at Wilmington, three interstate highways – I-40, I-95, I-74 – and a key CSXT national rail corridor. The port at Wilmington has undertaken more that $300 million in modernization improvements, making it one of the most efficient ports on the east coast. Additional port access to the region is through the Port of Charleston and Port of Savannah. The region has three distinct distribution models. An “At-port” location provides companies a location within 20 miles of the Wilmington Port. The interstate corridor location provides a location more inland with great access to one of the region’s three interstates. The third provides a convenient location for close proximity to the Charlotte region in North Carolina, one the nation’s fastest growing metro areas.
