TROY- Wright Foods in Montgomery County will expand its food processing and packaging operation, creating 505 new jobs with an investment of $53 million over five years, the governor's office said.
The company in Troy, about 10 miles west of Moore County, currently employs more than 80 people.
Wright Foods uses an aseptic processing method developed at N.C. State University to package its products to improve shelf life without preservatives or refrigeration. The company's website says it packages products for a variety of low acid food and beverage products for customers and develops customized packaging solutions.
Salaries of the new jobs will vary by function and average $29,678 plus benefits annually, the governor's office said. The project was made possible in part by a performance-based grant from the One North Carolina Fund of up to $1.5 million.
