PPD, Inc., won top honors in two categories at an international awards event Thursday in London.
The Wilmington-based contract research organization (CRO) was named best in the CRO industry and also garnered the award for best technological development in clinical trials at the seventh annual Scrip Awards, held at London’s Grosvenor House. Scrip Intelligence is an English-language international pharmaceutical news, analysis and data service.
The judging panel called PPD “a great organization; open for new approaches, even more for driving new technologies.”
PPD’s winning technological development is one that the company created in collaboration with Microsoft Corp. to improve the efficiency of managing Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) programs mandated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. REMS programs help ensure the safe distribution and administration of certain drugs on the market.
The Scrip awards ceremony honored excellence throughout the business activities of the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and CRO industries.
