WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The University of North Carolina at Wilmington has been named one of the top 50 institutions in the country by The Business Journals.
Featuring 484 four-year colleges and universities, The Business Journals' rankings are based on 19 indicators of academic excellence and affordability.
UNC Chapel Hill and North Carolina State University were the only other schools in North Carolina that placed in the top 50.
UNCW scored high marks for its cost, admission selectivity, prestige and retention rate.
The Business Journals reviewed data from the National Center for Education Statistics and the U.S. Census Bureau for their analysis. The group also considered recent college rankings from Forbes, Kiplinger's, U.S. News & World Report and Washington Monthly, all of which included UNCW as a top contender.
