Meet Our Team
Steve has been President of North Carolina’s Southeast since 2009. Since 1994, he has led economic development strategies at the local, state, and regional levels, including as Executive Director of the Columbus County Economic Development Commission, Sr. Developer and Regional Manager for the NC Dept. of Commerce southeast region, and as Marketing Manager for North Carolina’s Southeast. He has been a leader in marketing, strategic planning, product development, fundraising, workforce development, and the formation of public-private partnerships.
He earned a B.A. in Political Science from Appalachian State University, and an M.P.A. from the University of North Carolina. He is a Certified Economic and Community Developer, and in 2017 served as President of the North Carolina’s Economic Development Association. He is also an Eagle Scout.

Phillip is well-known to most in the NC’s Southeast region. Since 2017, he has served companies and communities in the Sandhills Prosperity Zone, which encompasses nine of our region’s 18 counties. He has been a member of our Local Developer Advisory Group (LDAG) and his tenure at EDPNC has included support for job creation and capital investment at Campbell’s Soup, Black’s Tire, American Wood Fiber, Meritor, Stevens Roberts Original Desserts, and other major employers growing their operations in the region.
“EDPNC has been an invaluable conduit into economic development,” Phillip says. “The organization allowed me to do something new, and I’m appreciative of that opportunity.” He looks forward to building on that experience as he embarks on new avenues at NC’s Southeast. “I’ve wanted to gain more exposure to the recruiting side and the marketing side, and this was the opportunity to do that,” he says.
A Pinehurst resident, Phillip brings a diverse professional background that includes marketing work for a defense contractor and management of a family real estate portfolio. From 2009 to 2013, he served Active Duty in the U.S. Air Force, where he developed expertise in meteorology and earned the rank of Staff Sergeant (SSGT). Phillip grew up in Charles County, Maryland but has deep North Carolina roots in both Moore and Alamance Counties. As a youth he regularly visited his great grandmother in Robbins. A scholarship took him to High Point University, where he earned a B.S. degree in management and a minor in management information systems in 2006. He also holds an MBA from UNC’s Kenan-Flagler Business School in Chapel Hill.
Phillip is a proud new father. His wife, Katie, gave birth to a son on November 30. Katie is an executive assistant at St. Joseph’s of the Pines in Moore County. His free time includes hunting, woodworking, and golf.

Megan Sellers joined NC's Southeast in February 2019 as the Marketing Project Manager. Her primary responsibilities include marketing, project management, business recruitment, marketing research and social media.
Prior to joining NCSE, she served as Existing Industry Coordinator at the Anson Economic Development Partnership, and as the Membership & Marketing Director for the Anson County Chamber. In 2018, she was selected as the Young Professional of the Year in Anson County by the business and industry community for her leadership, results, and collaboration in economic development.
She resides in White Lake with her two miniature Schnauzer fur babies - Tillie and Tess. Megan is an avid hiker, kayaker and biker.
Patti Miller is the Finance & Office Manager for North Carolina’s Southeast. She joined the North Carolina’s Southeast team in 2016 and manages all financial planning and oversight for the organization. She also interacts and assists public and private investors that support North Carolina’s Southeast.
A key part of her responsibilities is developing and generating graphics design of materials for external and internal marketing and communications. She received a B.S. in Computer Science and Finance from the University of Kentucky. Her credentials have equipped her to hold a wide variety of positions from computer systems analyst/ programmer to community college computer instructor to office manager and financial secretary.
Patti grew up in the Bluegrass of Kentucky. She spent 16 years living in South Carolina and for the past nine years she has resided in North Carolina. She enjoys travel and the outdoors.
